Dalby award winning businesses a sign for the future
The vital importance of local businesses to the Western Downs Region’s economy came under the spotlight last Friday at the 2011 Dalby Business Excellence Awards.
Staged by the Dalby Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the highly anticipated awards ceremony highlighted the outstanding calibre of businesses servicing the local communities.
Coming out on top on the night were Condamine Electric Company winning the title of Business of the Year as well as a string of other awards, and Ashton’s Butchery who took out the title of Small Business of the Year.
The high standard of business entries resulted in the presentation of Gold Awards to three businesses - Condamine Electric Company, Dalby Engine Rebuilders and Ostwald Bros.
The Gold Award recipients were joined on the winners’ dais by the award winners in the following categories:
Silver Awards – Diesel Electrics, Stimson Plumbing, Ashton’s Butchery, BMO Accountants and Dalby Rural Supplies
Bronze Awards – Hair@Dalby, MacNellie’s Safety Equipment, Ozcon Industries Pty Ltd, Queensland Cotton and Waminda Services
Judges Encouragement Award – Katty Cakes
People’s Choice Award – Ella Baché
Rotary Employee of the Year – Winner: Matt O’Donnell, Reilly Pastoral Co.; Runners Up: Regina O’Toole, Ray White Real Estate
Criteria Achievement Awards were also presented to businesses in the following categories:

According to Western Downs Mayor, Ray Brown, the exceptional quality of local businesses augurs well for the future growth of the region’s economy.
“The standard of excellence of our businesses is astounding, it makes me proud to be a part of such a wonderful community,” Mayor Brown said.
Dalby Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Mark Celledoni said the Awards provided a great opportunity for local businesses to step back and celebrate each other’s success as they continually redefine their operations.
“This is Dalby’s major annual event – it’s a fun night after people have been working hard all year,” Mr Celledoni added.
